Recreation Commission

The select board is actively helping to guide the recreation commission in defining its purpose and duties as they we not defined when the recreation commission was formed. Tonight we discussed the importance of forming a diverse commission which will focus on recreational activities for all age groups.

Center School Demolition

The town voted by a warrant article to demolish/remove the Center School. A couple of residents addressed the board concerning an option of dismantling the building and moving it to a private residence and reassembling it. The board will seek legal council to assure this is a viable option and in no way violates the intent of the warrant article along with the need to rebid the project from disassembly. We will also contact the present contractor who was given the bid to demolish the building. The present contractor has also done some work so all that will also need to be sorted out.

Deputy Treasurer

Judy Anthony has been appointed for another term as the deputy treasurer.

I was to encourage you to personally participate in your town government by first:

1. Watch as many meetings as you can online. The meetings are recorded and can be watched at any time on the town’s website.
2. Get actively involved by attending the GOP meetings which are scheduled on the second Monday each month. Contact GOP chair Cheryl Dean for further information
3. Stand by and support those who are running for town offices.
4. Consider running for office yourself. Too often, people get frustrated with their elected officials, yet they themselves do not personally get involved.
